What’s puja all about anyway?

Puja is a Buddhist devotional practice which expresses our feelings towards the Three Jewels, and our aspirations towards enlightenment.  It engages our emotions, our imaginations, and our innate creativity.  In this event we will go deeper into the origins of the Sevenfold Puja that we practice in the Triratna Community and here at Aryaloka, take a closer look at each section of the puja and the meanings behind the rich symbolism contained therein, discover ways to strengthen our connection to the practice, and explore our own approaches or resistances to devotion and ritual.

This October men’s event is a perfect opportunity for sangha members of all levels of experience to get deeper into this very important practice in the Triratna Buddhist Community.  If you’re a relative newcomer and perhaps mystified by what the puja is and why it’s a part of our practice, this day’s for you.  If you are more familiar with puja and don’t have an emotional connection to puja, or even if you have an active aversion to ritual practice, this day is for you.  If you have a natural love of devotional practice and a strong imaginative connection to puja, this day is for you.  All are warmly welcomed to share their experiences!

The schedule for the day will be:

7:00 a.m.  –  Meditation period (Mindfulness of Breathing)
8:00 a.m.  –  Meditation period (Metta Bhavana)
8:45 a.m.  –  Breakfast
9:30 a.m.  –  Study
12:15 p.m. –  Lunch
1:00 p.m.  –  Sevenfold Puja
2:00 p.m.  –  End

What can I help with?
